Mr. Baughman's Monthly Message

Dear Parents, Students, and Community Members;

This is ISAT week for the Chicago Public Schools. Parents, please remember that this is a state mandated test and all students enrolled in Jamieson in grades 3 – 8 must take the exams. Both the state and school board place a great deal of emphasis and importance on these tests. These tests are used to measure not only student growth as defined by the state learning standards, but they are also used to determine the schools performance, and possible placement of 7^th and 8^th graders in selective enrollment high schools. PLEASE be sure that your child receives plenty of sleep and a good breakfast each day next week so they are well prepared to take the test. Also, please make sure your child arrives to school prior to the 9:00 start time. This allows us to ensure everyone is accounted for and ready to begin the testing on time. There is a possibility that during the testing week some teachers may reduce the amount of homework students receive to help reduce stress of testing and homework.

Parents, I would also like to remind you that this Friday, March 7^th, the students will be bringing home their 3^rd quarter progress reports. Please be sure to contact your child’s teacher(s) if you have any questions or concerns. Remember for benchmark years, 3^rd, 6^th, and 8^th grade, students must pass reading and math with a C average for the year in order to be promoted to the next grade level. We have also attached your child’s current Lunch Fee Balance sheet and their Student Fee Balance Sheet. If you owe any money, please take of payment as soon as possible.
