Welcome to Our First Grade Page!
Here you can find a quick summary of what your child is learning in my classroom. Enjoy!




Language Arts:

Spelling:
Your child will be bringing home spelling lists every Monday and will have a test on those words that Friday. The spelling words are all sight words that your child will read and write everyday. Since these words are so important your child will only move onto the next word when they are ready. Sometimes they will repeat one or two words or an entire list from week to week.

Math:

Counting: We have been practicing counting "up" and "back" by ones, twos, fives, and tens

Money: We are learning how to count pennies and nickels.

Time: We are learning to tell time to the hour and half, using the phrases "___ o'clock", "half past ___" or "____thirty"



Science/Social Studies:
This month for our science/social studies theme we will be learning about:

Christopher Columbus
Bats
Pumpkins
