Welcome to Our 2nd Grade Page!
Here you can find a breif summary of what your children are learning in my classoom. Enjoy!
Language Arts:
Reading:
The Shopping List
Skill Focus - Dialog, Making a List

Skill Focus - Long o sound, cause and effect
Writing:
We are still doing writing workshop. Each day we write a story, read it aloud, and then a few times a month edit and type a final copy of our story
Spelling:
Spelling lists will be sent home everyother week and go along with the story we are currently reading.
Math:
Fractions: We learned how to make a shape into equal peices and how to write a fraction
Comparisons: We are using the comparison phrases "greatre than", "less than", or "equal to" to describe numbers
Polygons: We learned the different between polygons and nonpolygons. Also, we know how to count the sides and corners of shapes.
Science/Social Studies:
Currently we are studying Christopher Columbus
