 May News:
-TO ALL RAHM'S READERS
Congratulations on completing the Rahm's Readers Program!
In recognition of your achievement, you and your parents are invited to join Congressman Rahm Emanuel at a reception in your honor.
When: Saturday, May 10  at 10:00AM
Where: The Chicago Academy 
3400 North Austin Ave.
(parking and main entrance on the West side of the building on N. Meade)
               
-Social Studies -We will continue with our unit on
Chicago.
-We will take the Wendella Boats
architectural tour of the city. Trip includes tour of Lake Michigan and the Chicago River.
Chaperones welcome and needed. 

-We will continue with cursive handwriting.
-See Important Dates for field trip updates. 

 May work:
-Practice multiplication and division facts.
-Continue to turn off the water when you brush your teeth and fill out your conservation forms for extra credit points in Science.
-Practice cursive handwriting.

I will frequently post important announcements on this web site. Remember the assignment notebook is where the most accurate and updated information will be. Please check your assignment notebook everyday.

Parents please check your child's assignment notebook nightly and sign it (pg. 11) weekly.

Weekly assignments:

Math homework is assigned on a daily basis.

Reading:
Students, you have reading homework everyday. You should be reading 20 to 30 minutes each day at home. You may read books from the neighborhood library, books from our school library or books that you own.Read books from the different genres (adventure, science fiction, historical fiction, folk and fairy tales, mystery, sports, realistic fiction, non-fiction, mythology, poetry). You may read silently or read orally to someone else. Read about topics that you enjoy,
Students are given a leveled reader to take home and read every Friday.They are to read it and answer the five questions in the back using complete sentences. Please return the book and the work on Monday.


Time For Kids
  magazine is given to the students every Friday. They are to read it and turn in the assigned work every Monday. The assignment usually consists of completing page 4 of the magazine and a worksheet.

Spelling Tests
are on Fridays. Students may bring their spelling workbooks home to study.
