  HOMEWORK FOR JANUARY


Language Arts homework:
Week of January 29th-February 2nd

LOOKING ahead: There is a possibility for a "pop" quiz on Holes this week...be prepared!!

Monday, Jan. 29th: No homework...be sure to read for at least a 1/2 hour.  

Tuesday, Jan. 30th: Read Chapters 33-36 in Holes.

Wednesday, Jan. 31st: Read through Chapter 40 in Holes.

Thursday, Feb. 1st: 1) Read Ch. 41-43 in Holes. 2) Bring in a newspaper article so that we can identify pronouns and antecedents in class tomorrow.

Social Studies homework:
Week of January 29th-February 2nd

LOOKING ahead: We will be going to the Computer Lab this week to work on History Fair.

Monday, Jan. 29th: Complete your question for your partner in hieroglyphics, if you did not do so in class. Continue working on your projects.

Tuesday, Jan. 30th: Continue working on History Fair...15 visuals are due next Monday (since we will not have classes Friday afternoon).

Wednesday, Jan. 31st: Keep working on your projects. Review your notes from the Egypt video we watched today.

Thursday, Feb. 1st: No classes.

Friday, Feb. 2nd: 15 visuals are due Monday.

Language Arts homework:
Week of January 22nd-January 26th

LOOKING ahead: We will be having a quiz on Chapters 18-28 in Holes on either Wednesday or Thursday.

Monday, Jan. 22nd: 1) Work on Vocabulary Unit # 10...it is due on Wednesday. 2) Complete the review questions for Ch. 27 & 28 (Holes).

Tuesday, Jan. 23rd: 1) Study for quiz on Ch.18-28 in "Holes".  2) Make sure that Vocab Unit # 10 is complete. 3) Review for in-class Spelling Bee to determine the participants from our room.

Wednesday, Jan. 24th: Review and study for Vocab Bee and quiz on Unit #9. **Those of you that are still in the class Spelling Bee, be sure to review your words.

Thursday, Jan. 25th: Read Ch. 29-32 and complete review questions. We did not take the quiz for Vocab. Unit #10, so we will do that on Moday. Also, remember to bring in any articles dealing with our BEARS!!!!

Friday, Jan. 26th: No school for students.


Social Studies homework:
Week of January 22nd-January 26th

LOOKING ahead: We will continue to work on our History Fair projects. We will also be having a quiz on Lesson 2 towards the end of the week, Thursday most likely.

Monday, Jan. 22nd: Work on your History Fair project. Your next due date is Thursday and the 10 visuals are due.

Tuesday, Jan. 23rd: Complete Ch. 3 Lesson 2 review questions, p. 90 #1-4.

Wednesday, Jan. 24th: 1) Study for quiz on Lesson 2. 2) Make sure that you have 10 visuals for your History Fair project tomorrow.  

Thursday, Jan. 25th: Continue working on History Fair project. 15 sources properly anotated are due on Monday.

Friday, Jan. 26th: No school for students.

LOOKING ahead: We will be having some "pop" quizzes this week...be ready!!!

Monday, Jan. 15th: NO SCHOOL

Tuesday, Jan. 16th: Read Chapters 14-15 in "Holes".

Wednesday, Jan. 17th: Read Chapters 21-22 in "Holes" and choose a nursery rhyme that you will rewrite.

Thursday, Jan. 18th: No homework!!!!!

Friday, Jan. 19th: Read Chapters 23-26 and answer review questions in complete sentences.


Social Studies homework:
Week of January 15th-January 19th

LOOKING ahead: We will continue to work on our History Fair projects.

Monday, Jan. 15th: NO SCHOOL

Tuesday, Jan. 16th: No classes due to 1/2 Day. Remember that your vocabulary for lesson 2 is due tomowrrow as well as 5 visuals for your HF project.

Wednesday, Jan. 17th: Read pages 85-87 and summarize each section. 3 main points for each, for a total of 9, is due on Friday.

Thursday, Jan. 18th: No classes due to GREAT Presentations.

Friday, Jan. 19th: 1) Read pages 89-90 and summarize the final 3 sections. Identify 3 main points for each section. 2) 10 sources properly annotated are due Monday.

Language Arts homework:
Week of January 8th-January 12th

LOOKING ahead: We WILL take our quiz for Vocabulary Unit # 9 and the test for "Aaron's Gift" and "Water". We will also begin a new novel some time this week.

Monday, Jan. 8th: 1) Study for test on "Aaron's Gift" and "Water".  2) Complete Free Writing Activity for Holes.

Tuesday, Jan. 9th: Read Chapters 3-5 in "Holes".

Wednesday, Jan. 10th: 1) Read Chapter 6 in "Holes" and complete review questions for Chapters 4-6.

Thursday, Jan. 11th: 1) Complete draft of New Year's Resolution Essay. 2) Finish reading Ch. 7 & 8 in "Holes" and review for quiz on Ch. 1-8.

Friday, Jan. 12th: 1) Final copy of New Year's Resolution (complete with editor's corrections & suggestions) is due on Tuesday. 2) Read Ch. 9-13 in "Holes" and complete the review questions for those chapters. Make sure to answer in complete sentences.


Social Studies Homework:
Week of January 8th-January 12th

LOOKING ahead: History Fair updates and the title for your project will be due on Tuesday. Please pay careful attention to your due date sheet.  

Monday, Jan. 8th: Your project update for your History Fair project is due tomorrow. It is a 1/2 page minimum and each group member (if you are in different groups) MUST have a copy. Also, the title of your project is due as well.

Tuesday, Jan. 9th: 1) Chapter 3.1 Review p. 81 (#1-4). 2) Study for quiz on Lesson 1.

Wednesday, Jan. 10th: Make sure to have 5 sources properly annotated for Friday.

Thursday, Jan. 11th: Chapter 3 Lesson 1 Vocabulary (14 terms) are due next Wednesday.

Friday, Jan. 12th: Keep working on the History Fair project. Those of you that did your annotated bibliographies incorrectly be sure to make the proper changes.
