Language Arts homework: Week of October 30th-November 3rd
LOOKING ahead: We will continue discussing poetry and share our "I Am" poems in class.
Monday, Oct. 30th: Wow! No homework...how lucky are you? That means that you should spend at least 20 minutes tonight reading.
Tuesday, Oct. 31st: Begin Vocab Unit #1.
Wednesday, Nov. 1st: 1) Ques. #1-6 on p.33. 2) Study for Vocab Bee. 3) Complete Vocab Unit #6 - 5 x's.
Thursday, Nov. 2nd: Study for Vocab Test and complete workbook pages.
Friday, Nov. 3rd: No school for students.
Social Studies Homework: Week of October 30th-November 3rd
LOOKING ahead: We will be having a quiz on Chapter 2.3 on Thursday and then we will get into Lesson 4 later this week.
Monday, Oct. 30th: Study for quiz on Lesson 3.
Tuesday, Oct. 31st: No afternoon classes. Be sure to study for quiz.
Wednesday, Nov. 1st: Study for quiz on Lesson 3.
Thursday, Nov. 2nd: Complete vocab for Ch.2.4.
Friday, Nov. 3rd: No school for students.

Language Arts homework: Week of October 23rd-October 27th
LOOKING ahead: We will have our test on Stray on Monday. We will then begin reading some poetry selections from our textbook and also work on some of our own poetry as well.
Monday, Oct. 23rd: 1) Begin memorizing the Jamieson Citizenship Pledge. You must present it orally in class on Friday. 2) Read pgs. 4-6 in your Junior Scholastic magazine and complete the 5 W's worksheet.
Tuesday, Oct. 24th: 1) Complete the JS World Leaders Biography.....you should have the first 12 done. 2) Complete JS page 35, questions #1-10. 3) Continue working on memorizing the pledge for Friday.
Wednesday, Oct. 25th: 1) Biography of 20 World Leaders is due tomorrow. Make sure to have all 5 points for each leader. 2) Complete "I Am" Poem. 3) Review for Vocab Bee.
Thursday, Oct. 26th: 1) Study for JS quiz. 2) Practice reciting Jamieson Citizenship Pledge.
Friday, Oct. 27th: 1) Have the pledge memorized and be ready to rpesent on Monday!!!! 2) Creative spooky story dealing with Halloween or some element of it. See link "Spooky Story" under L.A. Handouts for requirements.
Social Studies Homework: Week of October 16th-October 20th
LOOKING ahead: We will be having a quiz on Chapter 2.2 on Monday and then we will get into Lesson 3 this week.
Monday, Oct. 23rd: Chapter 2 Lesson 3 Vocabulary
Tuesday, Oct. 24th: There is no homework tonight, however you might want to call your HW buddy and make sure that you have complete notes on the video we watched in class today.
Wednesday, Oct. 25th: Read page 49 and identify 3 main points and read page 50 and identify 4 main points. Remember the 5 W's as you read.
Thursday, Oct. 26th: Complete summary of the section titled "The Assyrians". Make sure to have 3 main points for this section.
Friday, Oct. 27th: Complete summary of "Babylonia Grows". Idenify 3 main points for this section and begin studying for your quiz on Lesson 3, which will be on Wednesday.

Language Arts homework: Week of October 16th-October 20th
LOOKING ahead: We will be getting back to our texbook and reading some stoires from there before we begin another novel.
Monday, Oct. 16th: 1) Vocabulary Unit #5 is due on Wednesday. (5 x's each) 2) 1 page prediciton of what will happen in Stray. Make sure to address all 4 characters (the Laceys and the stray dog).
Tuesday, Oct. 17th: 1) Complete Review & Assess Questions for Stray on p. 22: #1, 2A, 2C, 3, 5. Make sure to restate the question in your answer to receive full credit. This is due on Thursday. 2) Review words for Vocab Bee on Thursday.
Wednesday, Oct. 18th: No homework.
Thursday, Oct. 19th: 1) Complete workbook pages 6-7. Follow the directions. 2) Review words form Unit #5 for Vocab Test tomorrow.
Friday, Oct. 20th: Study for test on Stray.

Monday, Oct. 16th: Summarize the section, Writing, on page 43. Write 5 main points since it is a lengthy section.
Tuesday, Oct. 17th: Summarize "Sumer's Final Days" - 3 main points due on Friday.
Wednesday, Oct. 18th: No homework.
Thursday, Oct. 19th: half-day: There are no classes, so there is no homework.
Friday, Oct. 20th: Review for quiz on Ch. 2.2 on Monday.

Language Arts homework: Week of October 9th-October 13th
LOOKING ahead: We will have our Tuck test on Tuesday and hopefully have an opportunity to watch the film later this week.
Monday, Oct. 9th: COLUMBUS DAY OBSERVED
Tuesday, Oct. 10th: Study for Tuck test.
Wednesday, Oct. 11th: Complete activity that you started in class. You may type your work, if you choose, however it is not mandatory.
Thursday, Oct. 12th: Write 9 compound words - 3 of each kind: hyphenated, separate, one word.
Friday, Oct. 13th: If you are planning to run for Student Council be sure to prepare a speech to present in class on Monday morning. Otherwise, enjoy the weekend!!!

Language Arts homework: Week of October 2nd-October 6th
LOOKING ahead: We will be finishing reading our novel, Tuck Everlasting, so a test looms just around the corner.
Monday, Oct. 2nd: Complete Tuck review questions for Ch. 20-23. This is due Wednesday.
Tuesday, Oct. 3rd: Vocabulary Unit #4 (5 x's each) is due Thursday.
Wednesday, Oct. 4th: 1) Complete Vocabulary Unit #3 (5 x's each). 2) Review for Vocab Bee. 3) Bring myths and poems to class, we will finish typing them in the lab today.
Thursday, Oct. 5th: 1) Study for Vocabulary Test on Unit #3. 2) Begin reviewing literary terms for Tuck test next week.
Friday, Oct. 6th: 1) Complete Persuasive Essay and remember to follow the 6 steps and pay attention to the rubric while writing. 2) STUDY for test on Tuck Everlasting!!!!

LOOKING ahead: We will be having our very first test, Chapter 1, on Wednesday. Remember that tests are 50% of your average!!
Monday, Oct. 2nd: Finish Chapter 1 Review and complete study guide. Both of these will help guide you in your preparation for the test.
Tuesday, Oct. 3rd: Study for test!!!
Wednesday, Oct. 4th: Be prepared to orally present 4 events from your timeline.
Thursday, Oct. 5th: 1) Read pages 34-35 of Chapter 2 Lesson 1. 2) Complete vocabulary for Lesson 1 in your notebook.
Friday, Oct. 6th: Summarize the first two sections of Chapter 2 Lesson 1. (3 main points for each section)

Class Announcements Bring in boxtops! 6th grade wants to win the race aND the pizza party!!! We are beating the 8th grade!!!!!

We had a great time on our field trip to Navy Pier. Thank you very much to our parent chaperones. Mrs. Richmond and Mrs. Wong!!
