Homework
Make sure you check your child’s assignment notebook every night for homework. Assignment notebooks go home every night and come back to school the next day. Your child will have homework every Monday- Friday. Homework should take about 30 minutes each night. If you find that is consistently taking much longer than 30 minutes, please contact me and we can talk about a plan that will work for your child.
Reading~ Students should be reading for a minimum of 20 minutes each evening. They may read on their own or with somebody.
Math~ Monday- Friday students will be assigned Math homework. The homework is a continuation of the work completed in class and is usually taken from the Math Home Links. Homework is assigned in order to give students more independent practice, as well as to let the teacher know how well they understand the material being taught.
Spelling~ Please look inside the assignment notebook for the list of the spelling words. Each week students will be assigned a list of spelling words. Each Friday of that week we will take a spelling test.
Birthdays
Birthdays are celebrated on the last Friday of each month for all students who have a birthday during that month. On the month of your child’s birthday, you will receive a letter asking you to send an item for the celebration. For those students whose birthdays that falls during Christmas, Spring, or Summer break their birthdays will also be celebrated.
Mystery Reader
We are looking for Mystery Reader to share their love of reading with us this year! Each Friday from 2:30 to 3:00 pm, we will be welcoming a new Mystery Reader into our classroom. If you would like to surprise your child by coming to read to us, we would love to have you!
