  • Online registration for our park begins Tuesday, February 26 at 9 am, and in-person registration begins Saturday, March 2.  Spring programs run the week of April 1 through the week of June 3.

    The Saturday Enrichment Program (SEP) at Center for Talent Development offers academically talented students age 4 through grade 9 challenging enrichment and credit-bearing courses. SEP courses complement school learning, providing in-depth, fast-paced activities that high ability students need and desire.

    Our Spring 2013 session runs six weeks, April 13–May 18, at all of our sites.

    ALL CLASSES:  Final book review due Wed. Nov 21 (turn in all draft pieces as well as your final typed version)

    All classes, be sure to go home with an independent reading book!

    Room 306:  Please return ALL Walter Dean Myers books Monday, Nov. 26th.  There are several of you who still have a book checked out in your name- check you lockers or you will have to pay to replace the book.

    Room 216:  Please consult your reading schedule handout for your Book Thief assignments. 

    Homework November 14

    306:  Identify 4 sentences within your book review (complete!  use your notes from today)

    304:  Write a paragraph on loose leaf describing the central theme from your 2nd Walter Dean Myers book & list 1-3 other themes you think apply to the book

    Finish checking your 2nd book review draft using your checklist, bring same draft to class tomorrow

    216:  complete “final” version of your bio poem for Book Thief character; add a few symbols or images to help illustrate your final- be creative! 

    November 9th Homework- DUE WEDNESDAY, NOV 14

    ALL CLASSES:  Book Review draft 2 typed!  (choose a conclusion style:  either question or “echo”; start working on titles)  Character intro lead, 2 body paragraphs describing plot, conflict, etc. and fourth paragraph describing your likes/dislikes.  Try including 2 direct quotes somewhere within the review.

    UPDATE and REVISIT your writing workshop notebook:  add the “First Times/Last Times” and “OMGs” brainstroms lists on pages 6 and 7, and add to your original lists on pages 1-5; add a page of “seeds and pebbles” either on page 33 or 34

    Room 304:  complete your reading of the 2nd WDMyers book and BRING THE BOOK to class

    Room 216:  read to page 403 (part 8) in the Book Thief; collect 5 vocabulary words, mark 2 important passages; write essay  (prompt was given to you- you may type or write your response)
