Room 301 — Ms. Miller

We’re approaching the end of the school year but we’re not there yet. We are continuing to work on new material as we prepare to transition to the Common Core State Standards next year. Students continue to have daily homework assignments and math help is also ongoing in the morning for help with homework, class material, and to prepare for tests and quizzes.

Supplies: Calculators are part of the supply list for middle school math and should be brought to math class daily. The calculator on the supply list is the same for 6th-8th grades, and a student may use the same calculator for those grades. I have repeatedly told students in class that they may use calculators for the ISATs and that the tests were designed to have students using calculators. Unfortunately, I do not have a supply of calculators for every student that I see. Therefore, it is imperative that students have their own calculator. ALL STUDENTS at Jamieson take the math tests at the same time. Calculators cannot be shared between students in a class or between siblings for testing.
I have also asked for the students to have two notebooks — one 3-subject with pockets and one single subject which will be used for class and for homework respectively. This will help keep the students organized between class notes and homework since our math book does NOT provide explanations or example problems.
***Math help is available Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 8-8:30.
