Parents, students, and Community Members,

Jamieson School would like to congratulate our outstanding students who participated in the State History Fair this past week (their pictures, names, and levels of achievement can be seen on the Student Tab). Our outstanding students and Social Studies teachers, Mr. Newton and Mr. Feeney, have done an excellent job again this year.  Way to go Eagles!

The entire Jamieson Community would like to thank all the leadership (past and present), hard work, and dedication a number of people have played in supporting Jamieson for the annex scheduled to be built: Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Alderman Patrick O’Connor, the Chicago Board of Education, State Representative Greg Harris, State Senator Steans, Congressman Quigley, Kevin McCann (former principal), Allison Chronis, Jennifer Cartland, Mary Regula (past LSC members), Joshua Freedland (current LSC chair) the list goes on and I apologize for not being able to list all the supporters at this time.  For over 15 years Jamieson has been grappling with the lack of classroom space and instructional space, many classes taking place in the halls, projector room, and the auditorium. Our students have never had a lunchroom, forcing the use of the second floor hallway as our lunchroom from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The noise and lack of space has made teaching and learning very difficult, and if it were not for the dedication of the professionals that work in the building, we would not have the level of success we have always had.

Parents, student and community members; throughout the year we will inform you of various opportunities and activities on our website so please make sure to refresh our page daily.  Located on Chicago’s northwest side, Jamieson Elementary has been associated with excellence in education since 1937. Our faculty and staff are committed to providing our students with a broad range of educational experiences and opportunities. Feel free to browse our web site for many topics of interest to Jamieson students, parents and alumni. Our commitment to maintaining an ever-evolving site reflects our educational commitment to nurturing creative and adaptive learners.

I went to school here in the early 1970′s…fond memories of light streaming through windows in kindergarten, a young brand new teacher in 2 nd grade, mrs spelling, mrs Dorothy in 3rd grade, and more. Keep going strong Jamieson Elementary!
